A Freehold showcase. This person is fictional. The bar along the bottom tracks this site's features as you scroll; each is something you can ask for on your own build. Every build is bespoke: this shows the range, not a template.

You don’t have to know what to say. That’s my job.

What I’m like

I grew up on a farm near Methven, the youngest of four, in a house where nobody spoke over anybody. I used to teach, first in a primary school and then in an adult literacy class, and both taught me the same thing: most people know what they want to say and just need someone to wait while they find it.

I’ve been a celebrant for fifteen years. I say the hard words slowly, because those are the ones people have come to hear, and I’ve never once wished I’d gone faster.

One plain white candle burning on a painted windowsill in an old farmhouse at dusk, the window looking out to a paddock and low hills, nobody in the room.
Ten minutes before a memorial in someone’s front room, before anyone’s here. A generated picture, made for this showcase. On a real build, her own photographs of real ceremonies, with permission, sit here.

What I won’t do

I won’t rush you. I won’t upsell you: there is no premium package, there is the ceremony and there is the fee. I won’t use a template, because I’ve never met a template that knew your mother. And if I’m not the right fit for you, I’ll say so and suggest who might be.

Where I’ll travel

I’m based in Christchurch and I’ll drive anywhere in Canterbury: Kaikōura to Timaru, the coast to the foothills, and up any valley with a road. The fee includes the drive.

Five plain wooden folding chairs on grey sand facing a flat grey sea under an overcast sky, one chair set a little apart, nobody on the beach.
Ten minutes before a vow renewal on the beach, before anyone’s here. Generated for this showcase.

Water over greywacke, in one of the river beds between here and Timaru. A generated texture from the studio’s own library, slowed right down. It stops still if your device asks for less movement.

Fees, the same for everyone

Weddings from $650. Funerals and memorials $450. Namings and vow renewals $350. A first conversation, free, always. The full sheet is on How it works with me.

Start with a conversation

Half an hour, your kitchen table or mine, or the phone. It’s free, and it always is. You’ll know by the end of it whether I’m the right person, and so will I.
