Take a breath. Nobody is in a hurry, and I’m not going to be either.
Marnie Ashcroft, celebrant
Who you’d be dealing with
I’ve been doing this for fifteen years, in Christchurch and anywhere in Canterbury I can drive to. I write the words and I say them. The rest of the day is yours.
I grew up on a farm near Methven, which is where I learned that most things go better if nobody rushes them. I used to teach, so a room full of people doesn’t throw me, and neither does one person who can’t find the words. And I say the hard words slowly, because they’re the ones people came to hear.
Weddings, funerals and memorials, namings, vow renewals, and the ceremonies that don’t have a name yet. If I’m not the right fit for you I’ll say so and suggest who might be.
Three kinds of ceremony, and what each one costs
Weddings. I’m a registered marriage celebrant. I handle the paperwork, and you say the words you mean. From $650.
Funerals and memorials. I’ll come to you, and I’ll listen for as long as it takes. $450.
Namings, vow renewals, and the ones without a name. A new baby, twenty years married, a house you’re leaving. $350.
A first conversation is free, always. There’s nothing else on the price list.
The tussock in the next paddock, which is the only thing moving in the ten minutes before. A generated texture from the studio’s own library, slowed right down. It stops still if your device asks for less movement.
A first conversation, free, always
Before anything else, I’d like to meet you. Over a cup of tea at your kitchen table, or on the phone, or wherever suits. Half an hour, sometimes longer. No form to fill in, no fee, and no obligation at the end of it.
If it feels right, you book me. If it doesn’t, I’ll point you to someone who might be.
